Melissa began her theatrical career in youth theater nineteen years ago, performing in shows such as Peter Pan, Bugsy Malone, Narnia, and James in the Giant Peach. Enjoying every aspect of theater production, Melissa has also been involved in costume design and lighting and sound. After high school, Melissa began to pursue a college degree in Theater Arts and Child Development at Modesto Junior College. Her career path changed, however, after the birth of her first child. She decided to take a huge leap into the medical field and has been working as a doula and birth worker for the last five years. Melissa is very excited to be coming back into the performing arts world and is especially thrilled to be doing so at the Gaslight, a theater that has been near and dear to her heart since her first performance there as Lucy in Narnia. In addition to directing Starmites at the Gaslight, Melissa also works as a Stagehand and Wardrobe Dresser at Gallo Center for the Arts. In her spare time she loves to spend time with her husband and two daughters. She is looking forward to many great seasons with the Gaslight Theater and the amazing kids in the community.
